3rd January 2027 – Site closes for Winter refurbishments

WELCOME TO BUDLE BAY CAMPSITE
A QUIET, FAMILY RUN SITE NESTLED IN NORTHUMBERLAND’S AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY.
Budle Bay sits 2 miles north of the spectacular village of Bamburgh, with its coastal castle dominating 16 miles of golden sand dunes and beaches, and 200 metres from the mud flats of Budle Bay which are renowned for their bird life.
Situated within a picturesque tree lined valley with a small river flowing alongside us, Budle Bay is a friendly, quiet, low-key site catering to touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans, trailer tents and tents on both grass pitches and hard standing. Our huts and bunkhouse are also available for couples, families and solo travellers looking for a camping experience with a few more home comforts. We also regularly host school and youth groups and play host to a local archaeological field school every summer. We have a large variety of pitch sizes and customisable options for your booking to ensure you can find the pitch that suits your needs.
We are a green site in every sense; our power and hot water is from renewable energy, mostly generated on site. We recycle or compost all waste and we have many areas on site left to grow wild for our local wildlife, including red squirrels, several wild bee hives, herons and a visiting otter. We operate as a dark sky site, providing breathtaking stargazing opportunities and even the occasional view of the Northern Lights.

NEW THIS YEAR
We are excited to welcome Budle Bites cafe to the site this year, open now. Budle Bites serves a range of food, drinks and alcoholic beverages to sit outside or take away. Food options include breakfast, pizzas and burgers, with vegetarian and vegan choices available for all. The full menu is available here.
In other news, this winter we have been busy adding in many new hard standing gravel pitches for seasonal and day guests. We are also continuing to expand our planting scheme after a successful first year in 2025. Last year we were delighted to see a marked increase in pollinators on the campsite, including some exciting sightings of Hummingbird Hawk moths who are rare migrating visitors to our part of the country. Our resident ladybird population also grew by several hundred thanks to some popular new plants that provided suitable nursery grounds for their young. We will be continuing to expand these efforts this year, as part of our long term plans to make the site as environmentally friendly as possible. Over the past few years this has included a large investment in solar panels, extensive work restoring the riverbank, and the installation of homes for our local bats, swallows and house martins. You can also still benefit from the recent addition of the coastal path, which offers beautiful walks up and down the coast direct from the campsite.
